The carved mammoth ivory tusk tip has been exclusively carved vertical to showcase frogs sitting on leaves, on the edge of the water. Look at the webbed feet, black eyes and even the nostrils are clearly visible. See the bumpy skin of the frogs, the detailed and intricately etched frogs on leaves crafted on solid mammoth ivory tusk. Each position and active pose of the frogs has been aptly carved, sitting on lotus leaves. Some of these frogs sitting on leaves are carved while others are drifting with the flow of the water, as seen on the top. Notice the waves on the top of the tusk, how the Master Carver has managed to use every bit of the space of the end piece of the tusk and managed to create a beautiful scene.
Beautiful sculpture of frogs sitting on leaves
Look at the bottom of the mammoth ivory tusk. The splintered ivory signifies the absorption of minerals and fragility of the material. Lying under the permafrost for thousands of years have rendered the ivory vulnerable to absorb minerals, lending it a brown color. Notice the shades of brown and the splitting of the ivory layers, which shows that the inherent moisture diminished over the eons yet it retains the luster and smoothness of ivory. The piece of the end of the tusk is sharp and shows the layers of ivory transcending to a point. Genuine and pure mammoth ivory is rare and priceless and the Master Carver has ensured that this beautiful sculpture has been intricately carved with delineated lines. Set on a custom designed wooden stand, see the finish and carvings on it. It adds to the charm of the frogs sitting on leaves sculpture in pure mammoth ivory.
