Designed by Otto Pilz, signed, solution colours hard-fired beneath the glaze
Pilz, Otto (1876-1934), was an animal sculptor. He studied at the Applied Arts College in Dresden and at the Academy in Berlin and was affiliated to both the Dresden Art Cooperative and the German Fine Artists Association. The Manufactory purchased 30 or so models and genre/animal figures as well as nine figures from a Monkey Band between 1905 and 1912.
Crossed swords in under-glaze blue. Incised model number 4 155, impressed assembler’s number 144.
