This Russian Silver Cup has been hand crafted & designed by Israeli Russian Silversmith Artist named Boris Matveyd.
In this Amazing filigree delicate work Boris inlayed 3 Gemstones at the Upper top of the cup- The Gemstones are inlayed inside filigree frame – all around the cup there are 4 Filigree frames with 3 Red gemstones each Frame & total of 12 Gemstones inlayed at the Top of the Cup only. From the Middle to the bottom part of the cup Boris hammered little dots that gives to the Silver Cup a better grip & look. In the bottom of the Cup(On the Base) Boris inlayed 4 cochineal Gemstones - one for each Cup Legs.
Pay attention for the 4 Snakes that ornament the base of the Cup. This Cup is really exclusive & unique, each detail is carved to perfection – while the final result is precious , exclusive & amazing Cup.
The fine art of soldering Russian Silver wires and creating magnificent designs or filigree work has been done exceedingly well. Delicate Russian Silver wires twined and twisted together produce beautiful designs.

Mammoth ivory, Elephant Ivory - real or fake?

There is always a fear that the ivory sculpture that you bought might turn out to be a fake, because as a layman you may not be able to differentiate between a clever replicas and real ivory. However, with experience in this field and handling nearly all types of ivory, it becomes easy to differentiate just by seeing it.

Even though pure ivory can be of various quality and types, the fake ivory is made from resins. The powder that is left after sawing/carving ivory or remnants from bone sculptures are not wasted but all added to resins, put into molds.
